Managing Your Routes (Split Long Routes into Multiple Days)
Some routes are too long to complete in one day — due to distance, too many stops, service time, and fatigue.
TrackRoad helps you split your route into smaller optimized routes based on how many hours or stops you can handle per day.
Best practice: Use MaxMinutes (driving time per day) plus waiting time
to generate realistic daily routes.
Watch: Managing Routes (Quick Demo)🔗
1) Split routes by MaxMinutes (hours per day) or MaxStops🔗
TrackRoad can automatically split your route into smaller optimized routes of approximately equal length.
In the Vehicle page, set MaxMinutes (driving time per day) or MaxStops.
- Create manageable daily routes (example: 6–8 hours per day)
- Stops remain optimized and ordered correctly in each split route
- Useful for capacity limits, long-distance routes, and multi-day planning
Recommended: Use MaxMinutes + waiting time for the most realistic results.
2) Use waiting time (service time) to split routes realistically🔗
Each stop can include a waiting time (service time). TrackRoad adds waiting time to route totals and uses it
when splitting routes into equal day-length routes.
- Enter manually or import via Excel (column I)
- Accurate route splitting for service work and deliveries
- Helps avoid unrealistic route plans
3) On-The-Road mode for multi-day trips🔗
If you don’t return to the office each night (long-distance travel), enable On-The-Road
in the Vehicle page. Your next-day route starts where the last day ended.
Example: If Day 1 ends at Stop C, Day 2 begins at Stop D — not at the office.

On-The-Road mode prevents looping back to the office each day and creates realistic multi-day routes for long trips.
How do I split a route into multiple days?
Set MaxMinutes (driving time per day) or MaxStops in the Vehicle page.
TrackRoad automatically generates multiple optimized routes.
What is waiting time and why should I use it?
Waiting time (service time) is how long you spend at each stop. TrackRoad factors it into route totals so routes
are split realistically by hours per day.
When should I enable On-The-Road mode?
Enable On-The-Road mode when you don’t return to the office each night.
TrackRoad will start each next-day route from the last stop of the previous day.
