Save Fuel Costs with Intelligent Dispatching

TrackRoad helps reduce fleet operating cost by assigning stops to the most cost-efficient vehicle. When you enter each vehicle’s Fuel Cost per mile, TrackRoad can automatically dispatch work so lower-cost vehicles receive the heavier routes.

Best for: multi-vehicle fleets, delivery operations, field service teams, and any business trying to reduce cost per mile.

How TrackRoad uses Fuel Cost to dispatch stops🔗

Every vehicle can have a Fuel Cost field (cost per mile). When you operate multiple vehicles, TrackRoad uses this cost to reduce operating expenses by assigning more work to the least expensive vehicle.

  • Lower-cost vehicles are assigned more stops and longer routes
  • Higher-cost vehicles are reserved for nearby stops
  • Dispatch results remain fully optimized and ordered correctly
Example: If one truck costs $3.00/mile and another costs $0.90/mile, TrackRoad will prioritize the lower-cost truck for distant stops.
Example vehicle with higher cost per mile (John's vehicle)

Why this reduces fleet operating costs🔗

Fuel cost dispatching is a simple way to reduce cost-per-mile and avoid wasting expensive vehicles on routes that cheaper vehicles could handle.

  • Reduce fuel expense and operating overhead
  • Improve allocation of fleet resources
  • Automatically balances workload using real-world cost constraints
Lower cost vehicle route with longer mileage (Matt’s route)
Higher cost vehicle route with fewer stops and shorter mileage (John’s route)

Real example: cost-based stop assignment🔗

In this example, the lower-cost truck is assigned most stops and the longer route while the higher-cost vehicle receives only nearby stops.
